Task: To create an embroidered patch representing your hometown.

Research: Looking into traditional clothing and embroidery in the Nioman area of Belarus, where Gorki is situated. Interviews with people local to the area, lead the project into a political direction - addressing the increasing military presence and the destruction of natural beauty for military industry. Colours taken from Soviet matchbox limited palettes.

Method: Watercolour, embroidery, heat press, appliqué. 30 x 30 cm.
